The startup SheeldMarket, incubated at Agoranov in 2019, raises €8.6M

SheeldMarket is an EU-registered broker that offers fast, direct and secure access to an ever-growing range of digital assets. All via a single trading platform.

It aims to make this just as accessible as traditional currencies or other financial assets.

The startup raised a $10 million Series A round led by Atomico, the London-based venture capital fund led by billionaire Niklas Zennstrom, and Semantic Ventures another London-based venture capital firm.

Other investors in this round include business angels such as Pascal Gauthier, CEO of Ledger, and Alexis Bonillo, co-founder of the Zenly app.

Becoming the go-to broker for financial firms trading crypto-currencies

With the new capital, SheeldMarket plans to double its team to expand access to derivatives trading and DeFi protocols.

"We quickly realized that there were not yet enough large institutions comfortable enough to trade large volumes of various crypto-currencies and especially to support an active dark pool.
